Thanks for the discussion comment. I've never thought of it, but the comment is right one target!

Yeah I know, You mentioned IDAHO with high regard, and that felt really good to me because IDAHO has always been one of my favorite states. However, this thing called LIFE keeps intervening! My wife is not drawn to IDAHO in the least. Also we have 2 cats and we couldn't find anyone willing to take care of them for us while we were on the road, except for Debras Mom and Dad in Arizona. So that meant driving both cars straight thru to Arizona to drop off the cats.

After a few days of visiting and recovering we headed over to NM to check out a few places in that beautiful state. Nothing in NM really grabbed us, so we then headed up to Colorado. Once we got to Grand Junction, things just magically fell into place. Debra had a job interview waiting for her upon our arrival there, and she ended up landing the job! After a day or two of batting that around we decided that it was in our best interest for her to accept the job, which seemed like manna from heaven. Once that decision was made, we found a month to month rental, requiring no credit checks, deposits, long term committment etc, in a place that has an extremely tight rental market. More manna from heaven! A few days later we found a house to buy that we both really liked and decided to go ahead with it. The whole transaction went smoothly without a hitch. Our thinking was even though this is not our ideal location, at least we're out west again in a pretty good place. We can always move again in a few more years and make a bit of money on the appreciation of our home.

A few months later when I was ready to start working again, I found an opening that I was qualified for, applied, had an interview, and got the job. More manna from heaven.

So it appears that destiny won out over my preference to live in IDAHO. Having a habit of being chronically dis-satisfied, I still feel like I screwed up by caving in to financial reality and deciding to live here. I especially regret buying the home. I feel like I blew a golden opportunity to live in my IDEAL location.

Even though we bought our house near the TOP of the market, there has even been a bit of appreciation since we bought it. This area has a booming economy and it has largely bucked the national trend of falling home values, though the market has slowed down noticably in recent months. There are many more homes on the market now, and they are taking much longer to sell. Many sellers are lowering their asking prices, and the real estate picture ain't so bright any more. I'm concerend that we would not be able to recoup our buying costs IF we did want to sell in another year or two. This housing depression has all of the signs of getting MUCH worse and hanging around for quite awhile I think we've just seen the tip of the iceberg. I was living on cloud nine for a few months in 2006 and I just didn't see this curve ball coming. I was expecting a fastball right down the middle so I swung and I missed. Now I feel like I've got two strikes against me, and I'm not a good curve ball hitter.

Dear Franco,
Saturn return..I know. I'm 16 degree Leo,
with Sat. 16 degree Leo, Mars 18 degree Leo
and Pluto 12 degree Leo. I know, I know!
What a ride, heh?
I remember in my reading feeling another
state would be better for you....don't mean to
rub it in, but perhaps your light needed to
shine there for others. I refer you to the
recent postings by James Holland on this
site ....about how our light is significant to
all we meet....
Be gentle with yourself. I know you to be
a good hearted, earnest, loving man. I think
things will begin to go your way as Saturn marches
along. You know, she always leaves a gift at
your doorstep on the way out, if you've done
your work. I suspect you have!
Big hug to you and your wife!
Linda
